What it costs
Restore or replace? What a Halifax homeowner should know.
A foggy window means the seal on a double-pane unit has failed. Window seal repair costs about a third of the price of a new window. It takes about twenty minutes and is done from outside with the window left in place, so there is no trim, paint or reframing to deal with afterward. You get back up to 90% of the window's R-value, with a 5-year warranty.
Replacement is the right call when the glass is cracked, damaged or heavily stained. We replace insulated glass units too, so you are not sent to a second contractor.

Halifax questions
Window seal repair in Halifax, answered.
Can a broken window seal be repaired, or does the whole window need replacing?
In most cases the window does not need replacing. When the seal on a double-pane window fails, moisture gets between the panes and fogs the glass. We remove that moisture, dry the space between the panes and fit see-through valves that let any future moisture escape on its own. The window stays in its frame. If the glass is cracked, damaged or stained beyond restoration, we replace the insulated glass unit instead.
How do you get moisture out from between window panes?
We drill small ports in the corners of the glass, spray cleaning solutions in at high pressure to lift the moisture and mineral staining off the inside faces of the glass, then drain and dry the space. See-through valves cap the ports. All of it is done from outside your home.
What does double pane window repair cost in Halifax?
About a third of the price of a new window, with none of the trim, paint and reframing work that follows a replacement. Estimates are free and most quotes come back the same day. Call 902-468-4364 or send the quote form.
Is double pane window repair worth it, or should I replace the window?
For most foggy double pane windows, repair is worth it. Restoration costs about a third of the price of a new window, takes about twenty minutes, brings back up to 90% of the window's R-value and carries a 5-year warranty. Replacement is the right call when the glass is cracked, damaged or heavily stained, and we will tell you if that is the case.
How long does a restored window last?
Every restored window carries a 5-year warranty. The valves we fit make up for the failed seal, so any future moisture is let out on its own.
Do you repair foggy windows in winter?
Yes. We do foggy window and window seal repair in Halifax all winter. The work is done from outside your home and takes about twenty minutes per window.
